- 2 cups chicken broth (or use salted water for vegetarian)

- 2 tbsp oil
- 3 green onions (trim off tough ends first and discard, then chop into 1/2-inch pieces)
- 1/4 lb snow peas, strings removed, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 4 large mushrooms, thickly sliced
- 1 can sliced water chestnuts, drained
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/4 cup toasted sliced almonds
