- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
- 1/3 cup low-sodium chicken broth or water
- 1 small red onion, cut into thin slices (3/4 cup)
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (or red pepper flakes)
- 1 scallion, finely shredded
