  • 4 c. sugar
  • 2/3 c. flour
  • 4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 c. water
  • 2 1/2 T lemon juice
  • 5 pound tart apples, pared, cored and sliced
