2 tablespoons flour
10 cups beef broth
3 tablespoons Cognac or Brandy
1 cup red wine
2 bay leaves
1 baguette
10 ounces chunk of Gruyere cheese
sea salt to taste
1/2 loaf day old, good quality bread, a baguette or cibatta bread works well
