Apple Pie Tarts Recipe


Pie Crust: (from Real Simple by Sara Quessenberry)
1/4 cups all purpose flour, plus more for rolling the dough
1 stick (1/2 cup) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 to 4 tablespoons ice water (Add an ice cube to keep the water cold but don’t add cube to mix)

Apple filling:
2 tbsp all purpose flour
8 apples of choice (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Empire, etc.), peeled, cored and sliced
¾ cup sugar
juice of 1 lemon
1 ½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
pinch of ground cloves
2 tbsp butter
1 egg, beaten to brush over crust

(Optional) Crumble Topping:
6 tbsp butter, melted
¼ cup brown sugar
½ cup flour (you could make half of this amount oats)
pinch of salt
