Ingredients

Ingredients For the pastry
  • 100g/3½oz plain flour

  • 65g/2¼oz unsalted butter

  • 55g/2oz polenta

  • 1 tbsp water

For the beef
  • 25g/1oz butter

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • ½ onion, finely chopped

  • ½ green pepper, finely chopped

  • 100g/3½oz beef sirloin cut into small chunks

  • 15g/½oz cornflour, mixed with a little water

  • 50ml/2fl oz red wine

  • 100ml/3½fl oz beef stock

  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar

  • salt and freshly ground black pepper

For the glazed orange carrots
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 25g/1oz unsalted butter

  • 100g/3½oz blanched baby carrots

  • ½ orange, juice only

  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
