Cakespy: Blondie-Topped Brownies

Ingredients

  • For the brownie layer:
  • 1 1/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • For the blondie layer:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (the original recipe called for walnuts, but I used pecans)
  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • one 12-ounce bag semisweet chocolate chips
