Chicken and broccoli pie

Ingredients

For the chicken and vegetables

  • 500 ml chicken stock
  • 950 g chicken breasts
  • 500baby g onions
  • 500 g purple sprouting broccoli
  • 50 g butter
  • 225 g button mushrooms
  • 350 g mascarpone
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 3 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 2 lemons, grated zest
  • 1/2 tsp salt and black pepper
For the pastry crust

  • 225 g ready-made puff pastry
  • 1 egg, for the glaze, beaten with a pinch of salt
To serve

  • 900 g green cabbage
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, approximate quantity
  • 225 g dry-cured smoked streaky bacon, cut into 3cm lardons
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp black onion seeds
  • mashed potato
