Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup whole-wheat pastry flour (see Ingredient Note)
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup almond oil (see Ingredient Note) or canola oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
  • 3-4 tablespoons ice water
  • 2 cups Pureed Roasted Winter Squash (recipe below)
  • 1 1/2 cups evaporated low-fat or fat-free milk
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
