Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups  butter, softened
  • 2-1/2 cups  sifted powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon  salt
  • 1   egg
  • 1 teaspoon  vanilla
  • 4-1/4 cups  all-purpose flour
  • 2 ounces  unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1 tablespoon  milk
  • 1   slightly beaten egg white
  • 1 cup  finely chopped hazelnuts (filberts) or pecans
