Sausage-potato Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound  bulk Italian sausage or ground turkey sausage
  • 2 cups  sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 4   medium (1-1/4 pounds) potatoes (such as long white, round white, round red, or yellow), peeled and thinly sliced (4 cups)
  • 1   beaten egg
  • 1-1/2 cups  ricotta cheese or cream-style cottage cheese, drained
  • 1/4 cup  grated Parmesan or Romano cheese
  • 1 10-ounce  package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well drained
  • 1   medium onion, chopped
  • 2   cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons  margarine or butter
  • 2 tablespoons  all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon  ground nutmeg
  • 1-1/2 cups  milk
  • 1 cup  shredded mozzarella cheese (4 ounces)

Description

This Casserole Is Layered With Ricotta Cheese And Sausage, Just Like Lasagna, But Sliced Potatoes Replace The Noodles, And A Nutmeg-scented White Sauce Stands In For The Traditional Red Sauce.
