Berry-lemon Scones

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup  sugar

  • 1 teaspoon  baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon  salt
  • 6 tablespoons  cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • 1 tablespoon  lemon juice plus enough milk to equal 1 cup
  • 1 cup  fresh blueberries
  • 1 teaspoon  grated lemon peel
  • 1   egg, lightly beaten
  • 1   egg white
  • 2 tablespoons  granulated sugar
