Ginger Caramel Cupcakes

Ingredients

  •   Caramel:
  • 1/3 cup  water plus 2 tablespoons
  • 3/4 cup  granulated sugar
  •   Batter:
  • 1 cup  all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon  baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon  baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon  ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon  ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon  salt
  • 6 tablespoons  (3/4 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/3 cup  granulated sugar
  • 1   egg
  • 1/3 cup  sour cream
  •   Frosting:
  • 6 tablespoons  (3/4 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2-1/2 cups  confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 1/4 cup  reserved caramel mixture (from Step 3)

Description

Stir Homemade Caramel Sauce Into The Cupcake Batter And Add It To The Frosting To Prove Once Again That Spice Cake And Caramel Are A Match Made In Heaven.
