Halibut with Basil Sauce and Marinated Tomatoes

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 plum tomatoes, 3 cut crosswise into 8 slices and 1 finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 6 cloves garlic, smashed and finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • Four 5-ounce halibut fillets, at room temperature, split horizontally into 1/2-inch-thick slices
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon capers, drained
