Swordfish with Sweet-Sour Sauce

Ingredients

  1. 1/3 cup golden raisins
  2. 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  3. 1 small white onion, thinly sliced
  4. 2 large garlic cloves, very thinly sliced
  5. 2 tablespoons pine nuts
  6. 2 tablespoons small capers, rinsed
  7. 2 bay leaves
  8. Pinch of dried oregano
  9. Pinch of crushed red pepper
  10. 1 pound ripe tomatoes, coarsely chopped
  11. Salt
  12. 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  13. 1 teaspoon sugar
  14. Six 8-ounce swordfish steaks, without skin, cut 1/2- to 3/4-inch thick
  15. Freshly ground pepper
