  • 60 g cooked ham, finely chopped
  • 125 g button mushrooms, wiped and finely chopped
  • 4 tablespoons snipped fresh chives
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 45 g butter
  • 3/4 cup plain flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 1/4 cups soft white breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil, for deep-frying
