  • 1 cup dry red wine
  • Two 14- to 16-ounce cans tomatoes, with their liquid
  • 1/2 cup small Ligurian or Nicoise black olives, pitted
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves or 1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil
