- 2 cups brown rice
- 3 cups chicken stock
- 1 lemon
- 3 tbsp KIKKOMAN soy sauce (to me, this brand is the cadillac!)
- 4 tbsp canola oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 medium sized carrots, finely cut
- 1 medium sized onion, finely chopped
- 1 large stalk celery, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen peas
- 1/4 red pepper (sweet) finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 4 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped (or 3 tbsp dried)
- 1 tbsp Chinese five-spice mixture
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp rice flour
- 1 egg
- salt and pepper to taste
