- Two 10-ounce packages frozen lima beans, cooked according to package directions, drained, with cooking
- liquid reserved
- 1 tablespoon solid butter plus 2 tablespoons melted
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon firmly packed light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- ½ cup dry bread crumbs
- ½ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 6 slices lean applewood- or cob-smoked bacon
