  • 3 1/2 cups plus 1/2 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon anise seeds
  • 1/4 cup golden unhulled sesame seeds, toasted
  • 1/4 cup golden raisins, soaked in warm water until plump and then drained
  • 1/2 cup almonds, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup orange flower water
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon milk)
