  • 1/2 cup dry red wine or chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup chopped flat-leaf (Italian) parsley
  • 10 ciabatta rolls, split
  • Assorted toppers, such as fresh mozzarella cheese slices, shredded fresh basil leaves, and/or roasted red sweet peppers, cut into chunks (optional)
