Ingredients
- Yams, peeled and cut into pieces about 1" thick, to cook quicker do smaller pieces.
Apples cored and cut into bite size pieces - I cut these into smaller pieces as it distributes them more evenly over the dish.
I use apple cider - already spiced (I couldn't find this in the ingredient choices). You can use apple juice. To either choice, you can add more spices such as cinnamon. Use enough to have about 1" in the pan, baste the dish with the juice a couple times as it cooks.
Adjust the sweetness to your tastes, for me the apple juice/cider with no raisins is sweet enough. But most people need the raisins to sweeten the dish. You can add some additional sweetness with Agave Syrup, Honey, or Maple Syrup - each giving the dish a little different flavor.
