    1 tsp garam masala
    1/2 tsp black ground pepper
    1/2 tsp dried red chili flakes (optional)
    7 cups water
    2/3 cup mung beans
    3 cardamom pods (use seeds inside) crushed
    2 tsp dried basil
    2 bay leaves
    2/3 cup rice
    4 cups vegetables (celery, carrots, zucchini)
    soy sauce to taste
