  • 4 slices ready-made bara brith, cut into 1cm/½in thick slices

For the pepper tuiles
  • 150g/5½oz unsalted butter

  • 250g/9oz caster sugar

  • 200ml/7fl oz tinned coconut milk

  • 1 tbsp freshy ground black pepper

  • 100g/3½oz plain flour
