  • pinch freshly grated nutmeg

  • 1 vanilla pod, split lengthways, seeds scraped out

  • 500g/1lb 2oz apples (250g/9oz eating apples, 250g/9oz cooking apples), peeled, cored and sliced

  • 125g/4½oz blueberries

  • crème fraîche, to serve
