Makes 2 loaves and 3 starters
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 3/4 cups sugar
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 1 cup vegetable oil or 1/2 cup vegetable oil and 1/2 cup applesauce
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
- 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
