Braised Green Beans With Ham & Mushrooms

Ingredients

  • 3/4 pound  green beans
  • 1/3 cup  homemade or low-salt chicken broth
  • 3 tablespoons  brandy
  • 1 tablespoon  unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons  extra-virgin olive oil
  •   Kosher salt
  • 6 ounces  cremini mushrooms, thickly sliced (about 2 cups)
  • 2 ounces  shaved ham, coarsely chopped (about 2/3 cup)
  • 3 to 4 sprigs  fresh thyme, tied with kitchen twine
  • 3 tablespoons  heavy cream
  •   Freshly ground black pepper
