Old-fashioned Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 10 cups  sliced pitted fresh peaches (3-1/2 to 4 pounds) or 10 cups frozen unsweetened peach slices, thawed
  • 1/2 cup  water
  • 1-1/4 cups  whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons  sugar or sugar substitute* equivalent to 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon  baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon  baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon  salt
  • 1/4 cup  butter
  • 1/2 cup  buttermilk
  • 4 cups  vanilla frozen yogurt (optional)
