  • 1 cup  shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 a 32-oz. pkg.  frozen hash brown potatoes (about 3-1/2 cups)
  • 6   eggs
  • 1/3 cup  milk, half-and-half, or light cream
  • 1/4 tsp.  salt
  • Dash   ground black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp.  butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup  snipped fresh basil
