Butternut Squash And Gruyere Pasties Recipe

Ingredients

  • For the pastry
  • 8 ounces (200 grams) plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 ounces lard
  • 2 ounces butter
  • For the filling
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 ounces (100 grams) of serrano ham, cubed; or a couple of slices of bacon, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sage, chopped
  • 8 ounces (200 grams) of butternut squash, in 1cm cubes
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 ounces (100 grams) gruyere cheese, grated
  • 3 tablespoons double cream

Description

These Pasties Are Very Different To Standard 'Cornish' Pasties, Which I Often Find Can Be Dry And Not Particularly Tasty. The Gruyere Cheese Is Perfect Here As It Melts Easily Into The Sauce For The Pasty.
