Russian May Day Feast Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes with skin
  • 2 pickled herrings or any other smoked, salted or pickled fish of your choice, i.e. smoked salmon, trout, etc...
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 large slices fresh sourdough bread
  • butter, olive oil, white vinegar, salt, sugar, fresh ground pepper to taste
  • fresh tomatoes
  • fresh feta cheese or goat cheese
  • fresh chopped dill weed
