Fresh Mushroom, Pearl Onion, and Red Wine Sauce with Chicken

Ingredients

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, divided
2 tablespoons lemon juice
8 ounces small fresh white mushrooms, quartered (2 1/2 cups)
1/2 cup shallots or onions, minced & divided
1 cup Pinot Noir or other dry red wine
1 can ( 13 3/4 ounces) ready to serve beef broth
1 cup frozen pearl onions
1 teaspoon sugar
5 slices thick sliced bacon, cooked and crumbled
6 each grilled chicken breasts (marinade to follow)
1/2 cup shallots or onions, minced
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped OR 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
