Salmon Fish Cakes

Ingredients

  • 500g (1lb 2oz) potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 250g (9oz) swede, peeled and cubed
  • 350g (12oz) salmon fillets
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons chopped carrot
  • 1 tablespoon chopped celery
  • 1 bay leaf
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 300ml (½ pint) skimmed milk
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped chives
  • 2-3 drops of Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 115g (4oz) fresh white breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable or olive oil for brushing
