Ingredients
- CLASSIC ITALIAN SAUCE
1 large onion, chopped
3 tablespoons or less of olive oil
3 cloves garlic, crushed or minced
1 32- ounce can of tomato puree
1 12-ounce can of tomato paste
2/3 cup dry red wine
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
1-teaspoon oregano
1-teaspoon basil
1-teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
Put oil in dutch oven and heat on medium heat. Cook onion in oil until tender and golden. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add remaining ingredients and stir. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer until done.
CLASSIC ITALIAN SAUCE AND MEATBALLS
4 slices of bread
½ cup of water
2 eggs
1pound lean ground beef
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
2-tablespoons chopped parsley
1-teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
Dash pepper
Soak bread in water 2-3 minutes; add eggs and mix well. Combine with remaining ingredients. With wet hands, form into small balls, about 24. Drop balls into simmering sauce. Simmer until done.
