Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup chopped sweet onions
1 tablespoon minced garlic (or more)
1/4 cup chopped yellow bell peppers (I use one whole pepper, sometimes red instead of yellow)
1 pound ground turkey
1 (28-ounce) can crushed organic tomatoes, undrained
1 (16-ounce) can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed (I'm not a fan of kidney beans, so I use cannellini beans)
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon sugar (I use about half that amount)
2 cups low-sodium chicken stock
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon hot sauce--recommended: Tabasco (I use whatever we have on hand)
1-1/2 teaspoons sea salt (I use Kosher)
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
