Irish Whiskey Spice Cake With Custardsauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 c. pecans, walnuts or possibly hazelnuts
  • 2 T all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) butter, room temp.
  • 3/4 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon instant coffee pwdr
  • 1/3 c. light unsulfured molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 lg. large eggs, room temp.
  • 2 T Irish whiskey or possibly Irish Mist liqueur
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 1/2 teaspoon grnd cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon grnd mace
  • 1/2 teaspoon grnd allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 T finely grated orange peel
  • Powdered sugar
  • Custard Sauce (see recipe)
  • Fresh strawberries
