Halibut Chowder With Spinach

Ingredients

  • 1 pound  fresh or frozen halibut steaks, cut 3/4 inch thick
  • 4 slices  bacon, halved crosswise
  • 2-1/2 cups  chopped, peeled potatoes
  • 1 cup  sliced leeks or chopped onion
  • 1 8-ounce bottle  clam juice
  • 1/2 cup  chicken broth
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons  snipped fresh dill or 1/2 teaspoon dried dillweed
  • 1/4 teaspoon  salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon  white pepper
  • 1-1/2 cups  half-and-half or light cream
  • 1 cup  milk
  • 2 tablespoons  all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups  chopped spinach or 1/2 of a 10-ounce package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well drained
