  • 1 2-lb.  potimarron or butternut squash
  • 1/4 cup  milk
  • 2 cups  all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp.  baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp.  salt
  • 1/2 tsp.  cracked black pepper
  • 1 3-oz. pkg.  cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup  butter, softened
  • 1-1/4 cups  packed brown sugar
  • 2   eggs
  • 1 Tbsp.  maple sugar or granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp.  ground sage
  • 1/4 tsp.  coarse sea salt or kosher salt or 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 recipe  Squash Butter
