Ingredients
- 6oz hot turkey italian sausage
- 2c onion, chopped
- 1c green bell pepper, chopped
- 8 garlic cloves, minced
- 1# ground sirloin
- 1 jalapeno pepper, chopped, that's right, seeds and all
- 2T chili powder
- 2T brown sugar
- 1T ground cumin
- 3T tomato paste
- 1t dried oregano
- 1/2t freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4t salt
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 1/4c merlot or other fruity red wine
- 2 (28 oz) cans whole tomatoes, undrained and coarsely chopped
- 2 (15 oz) cans kidney beans, drained
- 1/2c (2 oz) reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese
