Ingredients
- 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 8 granny smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced (use a mixture of apple types for best flavor and texture. (use 10 apples to be sure you get enough as they cook down in the pie)
- Mel's addition: cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, ginger, sugar and lemon juice on apples

This Is The Apple Pie I Make. I Use At Least Two Different Types Of Apples, And Usually Three Types. Granny Smith, Gala And Usually Macintosh For The Third. Cut More Apples Than What Is Called For (deep Dish Pie) And Add More Spice To Make It Like I Do.
