- This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Huddleston Estate in Arlington, Texas in 1989.
- 1-1/4 pounds ground beef
- 14-1/2 ounce can diced tomatoes with juice
- 8 ounce can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup chopped white onion
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/8 teaspoon savory
- 1/8 teaspoon oregano
- 1/8 teaspoon parsley flakes
- 8-3/4 ounce can navy beans rinsed and drained
- 8-3/4 ounce can kidney beans rinsed and drained
- 8-3/4 ounce can lima beans rinsed and drained
- 5 pita breads halved
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
