- 2 Cups pinto beans
- 12 Cups of water
- ham hock, if not available, Grease from 1 package of bacon
- 3-4 Bay leafs
- Several Dry hot red chili peppers or pequin peppers
- 1 Tablespoon white vinegar
- 2-4 Tablespoons of chili powder
- 1 Tablespoon oregano
- 1 Tablespoon of black pepper
- 1 Teaspoon of cumin seeds
- 5-6 cloves of garlic, crushed
- few more peppers if desired
- 1 Teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Description
