Johanas Plantains Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup panela (or coconut sugar or light brown sugar)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 vanilla bean, split and scraped (keep the pod)
  • ½ tbsp salted butter
  • 2 large ripe (black) plantains, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 large *just* ripe (still a hint of green) banana, peeled and cut into chunks
