Ingredients

• 8 apples, cored
• Note: This recipe does not call for the apples to be halved but I sometimes do and I place the halves in the baking dish and fill the centers with jam.
• Cherry, plum or strawberry jam
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/2 tsp. nutmeg or cinnamon
• 1 to 1-1/2 cups red wine
• Note: If you don't want to use red wine then apple juice, white grape juice or cranberry juice are great substitutes.
• 1/2 tsp. vanilla
