Ingredients
- Dough:
- 1 pkt yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- or 1 cake compressed yeast crumbled in 1/4 cup lukewarm water
- 1 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup soft shortening ( I use Crisco type )
- About 3 cups flour- see below
- Meat Mixture:
- 1 1/4 lb lean ground lamb
- 2/3 cup fresh chopped parsley
- 1/2 cup fresh chopped green or red bell pepper
- 1 large garlic clove minced or use 2
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp allspice
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp black p[epper
- 1 pinch red hot pepper
- 1 3/4 cup to 2 cups canned tomatoes mashed ( or half canned and half fresh ripe, grind ripe ones )
- 3 Tbs tomato paste
- 3 to 4 tsp salt
