  • 2 pounds red bliss potatoes, peeled and very thinly sliced
  • 2 pounds Rome or Winesap apples, peeled, cored, and very thinly sliced
  • 2 cups grated Gruyere cheese (about 8 ounces)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
