Avocado-and-Roasted-Tomatillo Salsa

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 pound tomatillos—husked, cored and quartered
  2. 3 garlic cloves, lightly smashed and peeled
  3. 1 jalapeño, stemmed and halved
  4. 1 leek, white part only, coarsely chopped
  5. 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  6. 2 Hass avocados—peeled, pitted and coarsely chopped
  7. 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  8. 1 teaspoon sugar
  9. 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  10. 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  11. 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, preferably Mexican, crumbled
  12. 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  13. Salt
