Ingredients

  1. One 1 3/4-pound flank steak
  2. 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  3. 1/4 cup dry red wine
  4. 1/4 cup pure olive oil
  5. 4 large garlic cloves
  6. 1/2 teaspoon finely chopped thyme
  7. 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  8. 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  9. Salt and freshly ground pepper
  10. 8 rosemary focaccia or other rolls, split
  11. 1/2 pound sliced imported provolone or Fontina cheese
  12. 8 lettuce leaves
