Ingredients

  2. 1 1/2 sticks (12 tablespoons) unsalted butter
  3. 1 large egg
  4. 1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar

FILLING

  1. 2 acorn squash (3 pounds)
  2. 1 1/4 cups light brown sugar
  3. 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  4. 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  5. 1/8 teaspoon salt
  6. 3 large eggs
  7. 1 1/2 pounds Bosc pears
  8. 1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  9. 2 teaspoons cinnamon
