  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, cut into 1/4-inch dice
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, cut into 1/4-inch dice
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lb ground beef chuck (preferably 80% lean)
  • 1 (28- to 32-oz) can whole tomatoes including juice, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
